Academic developments in Senegal and Chad

BEM Dakar has officially named five prominent Senegalese and African figures after its pedagogical spaces. During a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, Dr. Boubacar Camara, the new spaces were dedicated to Abdoulaye Wade, Kéba Mbaye, Aïssata Tall Sall, Youssou Ndour, and El Mouhoub Mouhoud. The initiative aims to provide students with diverse role models in law, politics, culture, entrepreneurship, and scientific research.

In Chad, a leadership transition occurred at the Académie de l’Ouest. Professor Djalal Ardjoune Khalil has taken over as rector from Professor Mahamat Barka. The handover ceremony, attended by Higher Education Minister Dr. Sitack Yombatina Béni, highlighted Barka’s six-year tenure, which he noted was marked by significant financial challenges, including three years without subsidies. Khalil, who has previously served in ministerial and presidential advisory roles, succeeds Barka in managing an academy that oversees more than one-third of the country's educational human resources.
