Academic institutions host regional innovation and research events

Various academic institutions are hosting events to promote research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The Universidad Técnica Nacional (UTN) is participating in the III Regional Encounter of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Knowledge Transfer (ERIETC 2026). Organized by the Universidad de El Salvador with support from the Consejo Superior Universitario Centroamericano, the virtual event focuses on strengthening academic capacities in Central America and the Caribbean. UTN representatives are presenting six papers covering student entrepreneurship, food innovation, sustainability, and STEM extension.

In Mexico, the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) held the “UAT 2026 Research Day” at its Victoria Campus. The event featured interactive exhibitions and workshops designed to engage high school and university students in scientific and technological projects. Topics included aquaculture, electronics, health awareness regarding vaping and alcohol, and regional agricultural issues such as the impact of the screwworm on livestock.
