Academic institutions implement new faculty training in teaching methods

Academic institutions in Poland are implementing new training programs to enhance teaching methodologies and soft skills development for faculty.

CeLiID at AGH University of Science and Technology is focusing on professional development that allows educators to experience new methods firsthand. Their approach includes using e-learning and group work techniques to simultaneously develop the instructor's technical abilities and their emotional intelligence, communication, and collaboration skills. The center has published resources, including a guide with over 40 teaching methods and a catalog of modern educational techniques designed to foster transferable competencies in students.

Additionally, the Center for Modern Education at the Silesian University of Technology is hosting the third edition of a course on Project Based Learning (PBL). Aimed at academic staff implementing PBL under the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) program, the training focuses on practical tools for designing projects, managing student teams, and transitioning the instructor's role from traditional lecturer to mentor and moderator. The method is intended to cultivate creativity, independence, and responsibility in engineering students.
