Academic programs in Chile and Colombia advance geographic sciences

Academic institutions in Chile and Colombia are advancing specialized training in geographic and geophysical sciences.

At the University of Concepcion in Chile, fourth-year Geophysics students participated in an information session regarding an articulation program with the Master’s in Geophysics. This modality allows undergraduate students to integrate their studies with postgraduate research, offering pathways in Observational Geophysics or Geophysical Modeling without completing the programs independently.

In Colombia, EMPOPASTO has partnered with the Universidad CESMAG Architecture Program to launch a Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The initiative aims to enhance technical capacities for territorial analysis and management, using georeferenced data to support urban planning and decision-making processes.
