Academic research examines Ecuadorian legal and medical studies
A legal study from the UIDE Digital Repository examines the potential legal tension between the Constitutional Court of Ecuador’s abstract review of normative acts and Article 16 of the Organic Electoral Law, also known as the Code of Democracy. The research focuses on the relationship between the court's oversight and the regulatory powers of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
Separately, a bibliometric analysis conducted by the University of Azuay investigated surgical research in Ecuador between 2015 and 2025. The study identified 528 articles indexed in Scopus, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, noting that while scientific production is increasing, challenges remain. The findings indicate a predominance of male authorship and highlighted Quito, specifically the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, as a center for higher scientific production.
