Academic results show progress in Dakar while Madagascar reports lower exam fraud

In Dakar, Senegal, the Academy of Dakar reported significant academic progress for the 2025-2026 school year. The CFEE success rate saw a dramatic increase, rising from 70.97% in 2024 to 96.64% in 2026. The baccalaureate (BAC) also showed improvement, reaching a 67.14% success rate, which is notably higher than the national average of 55%. In Madagascar, authorities noted a decrease in examination anomalies during the 2026 baccalaureate session. While fraud persists, examiners reported a reduction in identical errors on exam papers. This trend is attributed to stricter security measures implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, including the prohibition of mobile phones in exam centers to prevent subject leaks. In Toliara, officials noted that while success rates appeared lower compared to previous years, this likely reflects increased rigor and the effectiveness of anti-fraud policies such as 'Bac Malio' and cooperation with the independent anti-corruption bureau, Bianco.
