Ecuadorian preschool overnutrition linked to poverty and food insecurity
A study conducted by the Universidad Internacional de la Iguana (UIDE) examines the relationship between food insecurity, poverty, and overnutrition among Ecuadorian preschool children aged 2 to 4 years.
Utilizing secondary data from the National Survey on Unsatisfied Basic Needs (ENDI), the observational research analyzed a sample of 13,447 participants. The study identifies childhood overnutrition as a significant global public health challenge, particularly within low- and middle-income nations, and focuses on how socioeconomic factors like poverty and food instability contribute to this condition.
