Academics in Turkey discuss the societal impacts of artificial intelligence
During recent academic gatherings in Turkey, experts addressed the philosophical and practical implications of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
At Istanbul Arel University’s 2nd International Communication, Technology, Art and Design Congress, themed ‘Digital Flood,’ speakers debated the risks and opportunities of AI. Emeritus Professor Haluk Şahin described the current era as a ‘crossroads,’ comparing AI to a ‘sorcerer’s apprentice.’ Discussions also focused on disinformation, digital privacy, and the impact of AI-generated content on journalism and media literacy.
In Bursa, Professor Metin Becermen spoke at an event organized by BUSİAD and Bursa Uludağ University. Becermen provided a philosophical perspective on the human relationship with the world, warning of the challenges posed by technological shifts and the need to re-evaluate how humans find meaning in an increasingly rationalized and automated era.
