Academy Museum hosts Roberto Rossellini film retrospective
To mark the 120th anniversary of his birth, the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture and Cinecittà, is hosting a retrospective of director Roberto Rossellini. The event, which will also travel to New York, features eleven films produced by the director in the post-war era.
The retrospective highlights Rossellini’s role in pioneering Italian Neorealism, with screenings including ‘Roma città aperta’, ‘Paisà’, and ‘Germania anno zero’. A restored version of his 1954 film ‘Viaggio in Italia’ will be featured, having undergone restoration at Cinecittà laboratories.
Isabella Rossellini, the director’s daughter, will participate in the presentations. The program includes the short film ‘My Dad Is 100 Years Old’ and the documentary ‘Viva Ingrid!’, which focuses on his wife, Ingrid Bergman.
