Academy of Fine Arts Museum hosts exhibition on Polish design heritage
The Academy of Fine Arts (ASP) Museum in Warsaw is hosting a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the Artistic and Research Workshops (ZAB), a unit that played a significant role in Polish visual culture during the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition, scheduled from October 14, 2026, to March 21, 2027, aims to integrate the scattered heritage of ZAB, spanning architecture, urban planning, and design.
Drawing inspiration from an unfulfilled 1974 exhibition script, the showcase features prominent figures such as Jerzy Sołtan, Zbigniew Ihnatowicz, Lech Tomaszewski, and Oskar Hansen, alongside many lesser-known creators. The exhibition highlights works that shaped Warsaw, including the Warszawa Śródmieście station and the Warszawianka sports complex. The program includes an installation by Marcin Chomicki documenting disappearing traces of this heritage, with additional events organized by CENTRALA, the Masław Association, and the ASP Warsaw Faculty of Design.
