Acadiana churches host Blessing of the Pets services

Churches across the Acadiana region, including Lafayette, Louisiana, are preparing to host Blessing of the Pets services. These events typically occur on or around October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

St. Francis of Assisi is recognized as the patron saint of animals and the environment. The tradition honors his deep connection to nature and all living creatures. Various denominations participate in these blessings, which often include specific prayers asking for the protection and well-being of animals.
