Acadiana experiences first seasonal chill and seasonal scents

A strong cold front is bringing the first significant drop in temperatures to the Acadiana region of South Louisiana, with temperatures expected to reach the 50s. The arrival of cooler weather and strong winds is expected to encourage residents to open windows to ventilate homes after the summer heat.

As people spend more time outdoors and prepare for the change in season, a distinct scent may be noticed throughout the area. Rather than the unpleasant odors previously reported in Lafayette Parish, the anticipated smell is the aroma of gumbo roux being cooked as residents begin seasonal culinary traditions.
