Académico de Viseu faces television coverage challenges in Liga Portugal

Following their promotion to Liga Portugal, Académico de Viseu has faced limited television coverage for their matches. Between August 9 and September 16, 2026, the club played five league matches, all of which were broadcast on subscription services: four on Sport TV and one on Benfica TV.

None of the club's matches were aired on free-to-air channels such as RTP, SIC, or TVI. The broadcast of the season opener at the Luz stadium was handled by Benfica TV, following the pattern where home matches for Benfica are typically broadcast on their own channel. This trend suggests that broadcasting rights often follow the home team's affiliation rather than the visiting club.
