ACAF launches referee training course in Costa Rica

The Asociación Central de Árbitros de Fútbol (ACAF) is launching its 2026-2027 referee training course in San José, Costa Rica, coinciding with the institution's 55th anniversary. The four-month program begins on October 17 and utilizes a hybrid model, combining virtual classes on Thursdays with in-person sessions on Saturdays at the association's headquarters in Barrio Chino.

According to ACAF President Guillermo Núñez, the curriculum extends beyond technical rules to include psychology, nutrition, physical preparation, and personal growth. The training covers various formats, including eleven-a-side, futsal, and beach soccer. The organization aims to foster discipline and responsibility while encouraging increased participation from women in the field.

Registration for the course involves a ₡35,000 enrollment fee, which covers materials such as uniforms, whistles, and regulations, followed by a monthly fee of ₡13,000.
