Acajutiba councilman's wife investigated for Bolsa Família fraud

The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) has been called to investigate allegations of fraud involving the Bolsa Família social program in Acajutiba, Bahia. The investigation focuses on Iasmine da Paixão dos Santos, the wife of local councilman Leonardo Carvalho Souza, known as “Leo Motorista”.

Documents indicate that Santos allegedly continued to receive Bolsa Família and Gás do Povo benefits despite her household having an estimated monthly income exceeding R$ 11,600. Between January 2024 and June 2026, she reportedly received 31 consecutive installments of Bolsa Família, totaling R$ 22,960.

Records from the Court of Accounts of the State of Bahia (TCM-BA) show that Santos maintained employment with the Acajutiba City Hall throughout the period of the transfers. She served in various roles, including administrative assistant and classroom assistant. The investigation highlights that the family's per capita income was significantly higher than the R$ 218 limit required for program eligibility.
