Acampamento Farroupilha concludes in Porto Alegre
The Acampamento Farroupilha in Porto Alegre concluded its annual celebration at Parque Harmonia, marking the Gaucho Day festivities. The event, which centered on the theme ‘Jesuit and Guarani Heritage, 400 Years of Culture and Tradition’, saw high attendance, with estimates suggesting it may surpass last year’s record of 2 million visitors.
Economic activity at the site was significant, with projections indicating a potential 15% increase in revenue compared to the R$ 70 million recorded in 2025. The event featured 236 local encampments (piquetes) and included various cultural performances, parades, and the traditional extinguishing of the ‘Chama Crioula’ ceremony. Notable attendees included Governor Eduardo Leite and Mayor Sebastião Melo.
In addition to cultural festivities, the event provided essential public services through mobile units. Citizens were able to access services such as the issuance of National Identity Cards (CIN), assistance with digital government accounts, and various social security and health services.
