Acapulco approves new economic development regulations and investment study

The Municipal Council for Economic Promotion, Investment, and Development (COMUFEID) in Acapulco has unanimously approved its new regulations. During a session led by Mayor Abelina López Rodríguez, the council also reviewed the ‘Acapulco Invierte’ study.

The study identifies 118 economic polygons with the potential to attract capital, based on an analysis of historical investment and productive vocations. Fidel Nieves Cerecero, Director of Sustainable Economic Development, presented the study, which utilizes data from over 37,000 economic units identified by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

Mayor López Rodríguez emphasized the importance of transparency and technical support in economic policy to build investor confidence. She stated that fiscal incentives must follow objective, pre-established criteria to avoid discretionary decision-making, noting that “while the government is not transparent, development is paralyzed.”
