Acapulco authorities remove unauthorized beach equipment and housing

Mexican environmental authorities conducted an enforcement operation in Acapulco, Guerrero, to regulate the use of the Maritime Terrestrial Federal Zone (Zofemat). During the operation, PROFEPA removed 20 umbrellas from the Tlacopanocha cooperative that exceeded their authorized limit of 10.

Authorities also removed an improvised 16-square-meter beach house located in the Playa Las Hamacas tourist area. Additionally, 10 individuals were summoned to prove the legality of their occupation of federal maritime spaces. The operation involved multiple agencies, including Semarnat, Fonatur, the National Guard, and local police, to ensure compliance with environmental impact and maritime zone regulations.
