Acapulco grapples with disputed housing aid, political visits and new tourism safeguards

More than a thousand residents gathered at an Acapulco registration center for the federal "Vivienda para el Bienestar" program, only to learn that the housing assistance is provided as a repayable social credit loan from the Comisión Nacional de Vivienda (CONAVI). The revelation prompted many to abandon the process, citing misleading advertising that suggested a free grant.

National Counselor Beatriz Mojica Morga toured the Las Crucitas neighborhood, meeting locals and highlighting President Claudia Sheinbaum’s upcoming water‑investment project and the housing programme as key development measures for Guerrero.

Municipal President Leticia Lozano Zavala led an inter‑institutional walk along the Costera Miguel Alemán, coordinated with the Tourist Assistance Center, PROFECO and the state tourist prosecutor, to inform visitors about consumer‑rights resources, safety guidelines for beach conditions and to ensure comprehensive support for tourists during the summer season.
