Acapulco hosts exhibition and book launch 'Acapulco, the Invention of Paradise

The Centro Cultural Acapulco inaugurated a photographic exhibition and presented the book *Acapulco, the Invention of Paradise*. The project, curated and written by Gina Rodríguez with editorial design by Luis Rodríguez, showcases historic images from the privately held Acevedo Mansour Collection, which holds over 700 photographic series and more than 200,000 visual objects documenting Mexico’s history.

The event was attended by Guerrero’s Secretary of Culture, Aída Melina Martínez Rebolledo, and owners Ildefonso Acevedo Reyes and María Elena Mansour. It highlights the importance of preserving documentary heritage and strengthening collective memory of Acapulco, a key tourist destination, tracing the city's transformation from the 1927 road construction linking it to Mexico City through five decades of development. The exhibition will remain open to the public until November, offering locals and visitors free access to the visual archive.
