Acari police investigate death of toddler found in water bucket
The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte are investigating the death of a child in Acari. Thalison Israel Figueredo Lopes, aged 1 year and 11 months, was found unconscious inside a bucket of water at a residence.
The child's mother reportedly discovered him in the container and rushed him to the Petrópolis neighborhood's Basic Health Unit (UBS I) around 9:00 AM. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts by medical staff and assistance from the municipal emergency room, the child did not survive.
Authorities have isolated the residence for forensic examination. Investigators are working to determine the exact circumstances of how the child entered the bucket, which is estimated to have a 20-liter capacity. The body has been sent to the Death Verification Service (SVO) for further examination to officially determine the cause of death.
