During the ACC Tipoff media event in Charlotte, North Carolina, coaches and players from North Carolina and Cal discussed their outlooks for the upcoming women's basketball season.

UNC coach Courtney Banghart noted that her team faces a challenging non-conference schedule designed to serve as an early barometer for the roster. The Tar Heels are expected to have significant national exposure, with 24 games scheduled to be broadcast on national airwaves. Key players mentioned include newcomer Achol Akot and sophomore Nyla Brooks.

Cal coach Charmin Smith emphasized that roster experience is a primary strength for the Bears this year, noting the return of seven players and four starters. Smith expressed hope that this veteran presence will help the team perform better in close games compared to last season. Top scorer Lulu Twidale also highlighted a focus on consistency for the upcoming campaign.
