Accept members reflect on band history and 50-year legacy

Former Accept singer Udo Dirkschneider and guitarist Wolf Hoffmann have provided differing perspectives on the history and legacy of the influential German heavy metal band Accept.

Dirkschneider noted that the Accept name existed for nearly eight years before the classic lineup, including Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes, joined in 1976. He reflected on early performances in Holland, Belgium, and southern Germany, while also addressing the legal ownership of the band name. Dirkschneider expressed regret over signing paperwork in 1981 that transferred rights to Hoffmann, though he continues to perform Accept songs through his current projects, U.D.O. and Dirkschneider.

Meanwhile, Hoffmann, who has been with the band for 50 years, discussed the group’s evolution from its early days to its status as a defining force in European heavy metal. He highlighted upcoming celebrations for the band’s 50th anniversary, including a tour and the release of the anniversary album ‘Teutonic Titans’, which features 50 special guests.
