Access Bank expands Southern African operations and partnerships

Access Bank is expanding its presence in Southern Africa through new licensing and deepened institutional partnerships. In Namibia, the Bank of Namibia has granted Access Bank Namibia Limited full authorization to operate as a commercial bank, effective October 2, 2026. This follows a provisional authorization granted in October 2024 and allows the lender to accept deposits and provide full banking services, supporting the bank’s strategy to facilitate cross-border trade and regional commerce.

In Zambia, Access Bank is seeking to broaden its relationship with the Zambia Air Force (ZAF). Beyond its current sponsorship of the Red Arrows Rugby Club, the bank serves as a financial partner managing salary and operational accounts for the institution. Managing Director Dr. Iheanyi Nwogu stated that the bank is open to expanding this collaboration to support institutional growth and community development.
