Access Control Becomes Governance and Cybersecurity Priority

As security systems become increasingly networked, access‑control solutions are moving from simple door management to a core element of IT, compliance and risk‑management strategies. A 2026 physical‑security report based on responses from more than 7,000 security experts worldwide highlights this shift, noting that 48 % of large enterprises (with 10,000+ employees) reported a rise in physical‑security or cyber‑security incidents in 2025.

Growth, acquisitions, remote staff and fragmented locations make consistent permission management harder. Companies are turning to standardized, role‑based access policies, automated workflows and tighter integration with HR and identity‑management platforms to improve transparency and control. "Access control is increasingly a governance issue, not just technology," says Andreas Flemming, Channel Account Executive at Genetec.
