The beach of La Pelosa in Stintino, Sardinia, has introduced a regulated access system that requires visitors to book an e‑ticket online. A daily quota of 1,500 visitors is split into 750 early‑booking places and 750 slots available only 48 hours before the intended visit. Admission costs €3.50 per person, with free entry for children under 12.

Similarly, the Ses Illetes beach on Formentera applies strict visitor limits. A daily tax is levied on cars and motorcycles, and vehicle numbers are capped, leading to parking closures when quotas are reached. Cyclists and pedestrians are exempt from the fee, and authorities encourage reaching the beach by bike, foot, or public transport to reduce congestion and protect the UNESCO‑listed Posidonia meadows that keep the water crystal‑clear.

Both measures aim to preserve fragile marine ecosystems, reduce overcrowding, and improve the visitor experience by managing tourist flow on two of the Mediterranean’s most popular coastal destinations.
