ACCESS-UP project marks one year of supporting student transitions to higher education
The ACCESS-UP project, titled ‘Support for students in the transition to higher education’, has completed its first year of implementation. The initiative is led by Dunărea de Jos University of Galați in partnership with Virgil Madgearu Economic College in Galați, Romania.
The project operates over a 30-month period with a total value of approximately 7.95 million lei, the vast majority of which is contributed by the European Union through the Education and Employment Program 2021–2027. It specifically targets the prevention of early school leaving and increases access for disadvantaged groups, including those who are the first in their families to attend university.
During the first year, 104 students and 110 university students participated in various activities. These included career orientation sessions, integration events for first-year students, educational counseling, socio-emotional support, and remedial classes to address learning gaps. Activities also featured practical experiences such as study visits to the research vessel REXDAN.
