Accessibility and inclusion initiatives focus on deaf and sensory disability communities

During the International Week of Deaf People, held from September 21 to 27, discussions have focused on the social, cognitive, and autonomy implications of hearing loss. Experts note that hearing impairment can increase cognitive load, as the brain must work harder to reconstruct information in noisy environments.

In response to these challenges, Grupo GN introduced ReSound Sensia and Beltone Illuminate, new hearing aids utilizing artificial intelligence to automatically recognize environments and prioritize speech.

In Chile, the 1st Congress and IV Seminar on Accessibility and Equal Opportunities for Deaf People was held in the Maule Region. Organized by Fundación FFIMAULE and the Universidad Católica del Maule, the event brought together over 200 participants to address barriers faced by the sensory disability community. The seminar included contributions from the Fundación Hacer Visible lo Invisible, which promoted awareness regarding low vision and the use of specialized lanyards for voluntary identification.
