Accessibility issues reported at new Österåsbadet in Hässleholm

A visitor to the new Österåsbadet swimming facility in Hässleholm has reported significant accessibility failures, particularly affecting individuals using wheelchairs.

According to a published letter to the editor, the facility lacks intuitive design. Issues cited include a poorly positioned reception area, high service counters that are difficult for shorter individuals to use, and electronic wristbands that fail to open wider gates required for wheelchair access.

Furthermore, the visitor noted deficiencies in the accessible restroom facilities, including the absence of a wheeled shower chair, a door that would not close, and a lack of clear labeling on shower controls, which led to confusion between the overhead and handheld shower functions.
