Accident in Castelli and waste management concerns in San Román
In Juan José Castelli, Argentina, a Toyota Hilux carrying five people crashed into an unmarked culvert on Avenida General Güemes during the night of September 18. The driver reported that the culvert lacked proper signaling while he was maneuvering toward Provincial Route 9 to refuel. While the driver, his wife, and their 7-year-old son were uninjured, a 79-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman were transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
In Juliaca, Peru, the Defensoría del Pueblo has urged the Provincial Municipality of San Román to prioritize the removal of solid waste accumulated at the Las Casuarinas municipal workshop. The waste must be transferred to the Huanuyo temporary cells to prevent environmental and sanitary risks. Municipal officials attributed the accumulation to fuel supply difficulties with their previous provider, which restricted the transport of waste. The Defensoría recommended that the municipality ensure a continuous fuel supply to maintain public cleaning services.
