Nghe An woman struck by lightning while riding motorcycle

A 47-year-old woman was struck by lightning while riding a motorcycle at the Hai Quan roundabout in Truong Vinh Ward, Nghe An, during a thunderstorm on September 25. The incident, captured on video, caused the woman to fall and lose consciousness.

Local residents rushed the victim to Hospital 115 Nghe An and subsequently to Nghe An Friendship General Hospital. Medical staff reported that while she sustained burns to her right arm, back, and thigh, as well as head injuries from the fall, her condition is not life-threatening and she has regained consciousness.

Meteorological experts noted that the storm was caused by the southwestern edge of a continental cold high-pressure system. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh from the Institute of Geophysics advised that citizens should remain indoors during thunderstorms. In unavoidable circumstances where travel is necessary, staying in urban areas with power lines or buildings may offer slightly more protection than open fields or empty lots.
