Accidents in Zacatlán and Pérez Zeledón result in injuries and narrow escapes
In Zacatlán, Mexico, 13 people have been discharged from medical care following a vehicle accident on August 12. The incident occurred in the Andador Juárez tourist area when an elderly driver suffered a diabetic-related stroke, causing them to lose control of the vehicle and strike pedestrians.
Of the 16 people initially requiring urgent medical attention, 13 were released after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Two women from Mexico City were transferred to a hospital in Puebla for continued recovery, while one person remains hospitalized in stable condition in Zacatlán. Local authorities credited the rapid response of emergency services and coordination between government levels for the outcome.
In Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica, a 62-year-old woman escaped injury after her vehicle veered off the road and fell approximately four meters near a riverbed. The driver, who was returning from church at the time of the accident, was evaluated by the Red Cross and reported as being in ‘green condition’ with no injuries. She declined hospital transfer.
