Accidents involving minors reported in Vienna, Dortmund, and Slovakia
Several tragic and serious accidents have been reported across Europe involving young people. In Vienna, two youths died after attempting ‘train surfing’ on a U4 metro line. The individuals were riding on the roof of the train near the Schönbrunn station when they struck a pedestrian bridge. The incident was captured on video, which social media platforms and the transport provider, Wiener Linien, have urged users not to share.
In Germany, an eighteen-month-old boy in Dortmund fell from a first-floor window after reaching a windowsill. His mother jumped after him in a panic; while the woman sustained only minor injuries, the child suffered serious injuries.
In Slovakia, six girls aged 12 to 14 fell from a carousel at the Vadaš swimming pool. Witnesses reported that safety barriers failed during operation. Four of the girls were hospitalized, though police noted that some sustained only minor injuries requiring immediate treatment. Authorities are investigating whether the cause was technical failure or operator error.
