Acciona Energía commissions 72 MW of wind capacity in Croatia

Acciona Energía has commenced commercial operations at two new wind farms in Croatia, the Opor and Boraja II projects. Located in the Split-Dalmatia and Šibenik-Knin regions, the facilities add a combined 72 MW of capacity to the company’s portfolio.

The Opor wind farm consists of six 4.5 MW Nordex turbines, while Boraja II utilizes ten turbines of the same capacity. Both projects use 105-meter steel towers. The new installations are expected to generate approximately 203 GWh of electricity annually and prevent roughly 135,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

Both projects are supported by 12-year contracts for difference (CfD) awarded through competitive tenders organized by the Croatian energy market operator, HROTE. These agreements provide revenue stability by establishing reference electricity prices, reducing exposure to wholesale market volatility.

With these additions, Acciona Energía’s operating wind capacity in Croatia has risen to 102 MW. The company is also currently constructing the 189 MWp Promina solar park in Šibenik-Knin county, marking its first major photovoltaic project in the country.
