Accor expands with new hotels in Spain, Portugal and the Mediterranean
Accor confirmed its 2026 growth strategy with a series of new openings across the Iberian Peninsula and Mediterranean destinations. In Barcelona, the company will launch the ibis budget Barcelona Center, the largest ibis budget property in the Iberian Peninsula with 189 rooms, a rooftop pool and BREEAM‑aligned sustainability features. Alexandre Guénant, director general of AGP Hotels, said the project is “developed in line with the sustainability objectives of the 22@ urban regeneration project.”
The brand will also open ibis Styles Granada in 2027, a 116‑room hotel near the Alhambra, and introduce the Handwritten Collection to Portugal with the Quinta do Vale Dourado, slated for 2028. The Portuguese hotel will be the first Handwritten Collection property in the Iberian Peninsula, built on a 40‑hectare site near the border with Spain and designed to preserve local landscape and heritage. Additional Mövenpick Hotel & Residences openings are planned in Montenegro’s Kotor Bay and Croatia’s Kvarner Bay, extending Accor’s presence in leisure‑focused Mediterranean markets.
