Accountant accused of embezzling 189,000 BGN in Dobrich

The Dobrich District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against a 63-year-old accountant for large-scale embezzlement. The woman is accused of misappropriating 189,663.47 BGN belonging to a production and trade cooperative in the Dobrich region.

According to investigators, the woman was entrusted with cash in December 2023 to pay out agricultural rents for the 2022/2023 period. Following complaints regarding unpaid rents, an internal audit revealed a significant shortage in the cooperative's cash reserves.

If convicted, the defendant faces a prison sentence ranging from three to fifteen years.
