Accra Circuit Court remands two men over alleged land guard activities

Two men, Gabriel Abotsi Ahor and Benjamin Essel, have been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court following allegations of involvement in land guard activities. The pair is accused of unlawfully demolishing an incomplete building and a boundary wall in East Legon, Accra.

Ahor and Essel face four charges: conspiracy to commit a crime regarding the prohibition of land guard activities, engaging in land guard activities, conspiracy to commit unlawful damage, and causing unlawful damage.

The defense argued that the accused had permanent residences and reliable sureties, but the prosecution opposed bail, citing a risk of interference with ongoing investigations. The court ordered the men to be held in custody, with a scheduled court appearance set for 23 September 2026. Three other suspects remain at large as police continue their investigation.
