Accra Flood‑Mitigation Clean‑Up Mobilises Private and Public Agencies

Zoomlion Ghana Limited joined forces with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), FeDEMS Group, Dredge Masters Ghana, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service and local metropolitan assemblies to launch a three‑day clean‑up and desilting operation across flood‑prone communities in the Greater Accra Region. The exercise, which ran from June 10 to 12, focused on major drainage channels and waterways in areas such as Circle, Mallam, Roman Ridge, Paloma, Kaneshie and the GBC neighbourhood, clearing debris and sediment to improve rainwater flow during the rainy season.

Officials highlighted that most flooding results from clogged drains caused by waste dumping and illegal encroachments. NADMO’s regional director urged residents to adopt responsible waste‑disposal habits and support the “No Do No Do” campaign, while Zoomlion’s communications officers stressed that regular maintenance and public cooperation are essential to protect lives and property from flood damage.
