Accra, Ghana fires destroy homes and businesses in Nungua and Odorkor

On the early morning of 6 August, two separate fires broke out in Ghana’s Greater Accra Region. The first blaze erupted along Old Kasaperko Road in the Nungua neighbourhood of Krowor municipality, where a metal container used for commercial activities was fully engulfed. Reported at 03:38 a.m., firefighters arrived at 03:53 a.m. and had the fire under control by 04:00 a.m., but the container and its contents were destroyed.

A second fire was reported at 02:08 a.m. in Odorkor Official Town, Ga Central municipality, near Adi Junction. The flames consumed several wooden residential structures and a mechanic’s workshop storeroom. Emergency crews reached the site at 02:27 a.m.; the fire was contained before spreading further, though three homes and the workshop were lost. No injuries or fatalities were recorded in either incident. The Ghana National Fire Service is investigating the causes of both fires.
