Accra International Airport to receive new car park and hotel complex
President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to break ground on a major multi-purpose development at the Accra International Airport on Thursday, August 27. The project aims to address chronic parking shortages and the lack of on-site hospitality facilities at the airport.
The planned seven-storey complex will feature more than 2,000 parking bays, two modern hotels, and a shopping mall equipped with a food court, retail outlets, and rental office spaces. To ensure seamless transit, a pedestrian bridge will connect the development directly to the airport terminal.
In addition to commercial and transport functions, the facility will include leisure amenities such as a sky lounge and a sky observatory designed for viewing aircraft movements. Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that this project is part of a broader infrastructure agenda, following previous developments such as Terminal 3 at Kotoka International Airport and the expansion of the Tema Harbour.
