Accra Sports Stadium cleared by CAF for AFCON 2027 qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has cleared the Accra Sports Stadium to host international matches, allowing Ghana's national team, the Black Stars, to play their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches at the venue. The approval follows renovation work conducted by the National Sports Authority (NSA) to meet international standards.

Following the certification, Ghana is scheduled to host The Gambia on 29 September as part of their Group C qualifying campaign. The stadium's readiness was recently inspected by Sports Minister Kofi Adams and NSA Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah to ensure compliance with CAF requirements.

Due to its newly approved status, the Accra Sports Stadium may also serve as a neutral venue for other nations. Niger has been cleared to play its home qualifiers at the stadium, and Somalia has formally requested permission to host its matches there as well.
