Accra to host first Assemblies of God World Congress in Africa

Accra is set to host the Assemblies of God World Congress from October 14 to 16, 2026. This marks the first time in the 115-year history of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship that the global event will be held on the African continent.

Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, anticipates that approximately 10,000 delegates, along with additional tourists, will travel to the country. He noted that the influx of visitors is expected to provide a significant economic dividend and enhance Ghana’s international image.

Preparations are currently being managed by a Local Organising Committee (LOC). A recent meeting included representatives from various state institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, National Security, the Ghana Health Service, and the National Ambulance Service.
