Accsys and Prosus report divergent business updates
Accsys, the Amsterdam-listed wood processor, reported a decline in performance for the first five months of its 2027 fiscal year. Revenue fell by 6 percent year-on-year to 56.9 million euros, while volumes decreased by 11 percent. The company attributed these results to challenging macroeconomic conditions, inflationary pressures, interest rate hikes, and the impact of the conflict in the Middle East, which have collectively dampened consumer confidence and delayed projects. Accsys noted significant inventory reductions among distributors, particularly in North America, though it believes this destocking phase is stabilizing.
In separate news, tech investor Prosus is restructuring its leadership to better monetize its data and artificial intelligence capabilities. The company appointed Ronald Hanstot, known as Nalden and founder of WeTransfer, as Chief Product Officer. He joins a new leadership team that includes Euro Beinat as Chief AI Officer and Paul van der Boor as Chief Technology Officer. This move is part of CEO Fabricio Bloisi’s strategy to transform Prosus from a pure investor into a product developer, utilizing its proprietary AI platform, Toqan, and exploring new investment domains such as robotics.
