Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has achieved a major commercial milestone, surpassing 1 million units sold worldwide within approximately one week of its release. Bandai Namco announced that this achievement marks the fastest sales trajectory in the history of the 30-year-old franchise.

Following its official launch on October 2, 2026, the title has seen significant engagement across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. On Steam, the game reached a peak of over 52,000 concurrent players on October 3.

Critical reception has been largely positive, with the game earning high scores on review aggregators, placing it as the second highest-rated entry in the series, trailing only Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies.
