Acebuche de las Hoyas millennial olive tree opens new experiential trail
A new experiential trail has been launched to showcase the Acebuche de las Hoyas, a millennial olive tree located in the Sierra de Cazorla. The project is part of the OleotourJaén Tourism Sustainability Plan, executed by the Diputación de Jaén.
The tree is estimated to be between 1,200 and 1,500 years old, standing 15 meters tall with a 10-meter trunk and a canopy exceeding 20 meters. The new trail offers both pedestrian and cycling itineraries connecting the municipalities of Cazorla and La Iruela.
The specific intervention for this trail involved an investment of over 76,000 euros. This initiative is supported by the broader OleotourJaén plan, which has received 4.5 million euros in funding from the European NextGenerationEU funds via the Spanish Government's Recovery Plan.
