Aceh Barat allocates funds to rehabilitate flood-damaged rice fields

The Aceh Barat Agriculture, Food Crops and Horticulture Office has allocated funds to rehabilitate approximately 1,308 hectares of rice fields damaged by flash floods on November 26, 2025. The recovery effort aims to restore agricultural productivity before the upcoming 'rendeng' planting season begins in early October.

Under a Type IV self-management mechanism, the government is transferring funds directly to the accounts of 96 farmer groups across eight districts, including Kaway XVI and Pante Ceureumen. This approach grants farmers direct control over the execution of physical works, which include piping, channel normalization, and drainage improvements.

Hendra Marsigi, Head of Infrastructure at the Agriculture Office, stated that the initiative is designed to accelerate land optimization. By involving local farmers who possess specific knowledge of their land's irrigation needs, the program seeks to ensure that infrastructure is restored efficiently to support regional food security.
