Aceh Tenggara flooding impacts 13 villages and 203 people

Heavy rainfall in Aceh Tenggara Regency has caused significant flooding across 13 villages in seven sub-districts. The surge in water levels from the Lawe Kisam and Lawe Kinga rivers led to river overflows into residential areas and the breaching of the Lawe Kisam river embankment.

The Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) reports that the flooding has impacted approximately 203 people, or 52 households. While no casualties or displaced persons have been reported, the disaster has caused substantial damage to local agriculture, destroying roughly 40 hectares of farmland in Terutung Megara Lawe Pasaran and 10 hectares of rice fields in Kisam Gabungan.

Infrastructure has also been severely affected. Landslides have covered the Kutacane - Blangkejeren road in Kati Maju village and downed a PLN electricity pole. Additionally, several key access points, including the Natam-Simpang IV Tanjung bridge and the Mbarung bridge, have been washed away by the river, cutting off access to the Lawe Alas sub-district.
