Acer and Samsung target growth in tablet and portable monitor markets

Major technology manufacturers Acer and Samsung are navigating shifting trends in the tablet and mobile device markets. Acer is expanding its niche product lines, targeting a recovery in the commercial tablet tender market and the upcoming Western holiday season. The company is also entering the portable monitor market with new color E Ink technology, designed as a “second screen” for professionals to improve multitasking and eye comfort.

Samsung reports that the tablet market is experiencing counter-trend growth, driven largely by the integration of AI features and the blurring lines between tablets and laptops. Samsung’s tablet sales and revenue in Taiwan grew by over 20% in the first nine months of the year. To combat rising component costs and increasing smartphone prices, Samsung is utilizing an “N-1” strategy, which has seen a threefold increase in sales of previous-generation flagship models as price-sensitive consumers opt for older high-end hardware.
