ACERA presents Chilean energy storage expertise at conference in China
The Chilean Association of Renewable Energies and Storage (ACERA) presented Chile's advancements in energy storage at the World Energy Storage Conference 2026 in China. ACERA Executive Director Ana Lía Rojas discussed the technical, operational, and regulatory challenges of integrating batteries into the Chilean electrical system.
Chile ranked fifth globally for new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations during 2025, following China, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. The country maintains a storage portfolio exceeding 10 GW when accounting for projects currently in operation, under construction, or in development.
During the conference, ACERA emphasized the importance of strengthening technical cooperation between technologists, system operators, and regulators across Latin America to ensure safe and efficient energy storage integration. The delegation also conducted a technical visit to CATL facilities in Ningde.
