Acerbrag and UOM reach agreement to end labor strike

The labor dispute between the steel company Acerbrag and the Metalworkers' Union (UOM) in Bragado has reached a truce following a period of mandatory conciliation. After nearly two days of strikes that paralyzed the plant, workers have lifted their industrial actions following an agreement signed at the Labor Secretariat.

The conflict centered on pending salary updates for June 2024 and April 2025, which were not included in the August 13 paritarian agreement between the Argentine Steel Chamber and the UOM. A significant point of contention involved an extraordinary bonus, with the company proposing 400,000 pesos while the union demanded approximately 1,600,000 pesos.

Acerbrag stated that while it is committed to fulfilling existing agreements and exploring new measures to support worker income, the steel industry is facing an exceptional crisis. The company described the current period as one of the most difficult in its history, emphasizing that maintaining operations is essential to preserving local production and jobs.
